May 22 Yough Report

In the interest of complete candor, the fishing has been a little silly on the Yough of late. That is not to say that we aren't accustomed to really good fishing on the big river in May--we are. But that good fishing generally comes as a result of throwing meat or other assorted subsurface junkery.

Not so of late. The Yough, fickle lady that she is, changes her mood on a whim. And this latest swing in temperament has brought some exceptionally good dry fly fishing. (Disclaimer: aforementioned exceptionally good dry fly fishing is only exceptionally good if you consider rainbow and browns averaging 14-16 inches slashing dry flies with reckless abandon to be both exceptional and good.)

The menu has been caddis and BWOs for breakfast and through the lunch hour with a slight afternoon siesta. And sulfurs and cahills are what's for dinner.

Nymphs matching the above will do it as well.

Give us a call if that sounds at all appealing,

The boys at LHGS
