Hot Water on the Yough

Just a quick update for those looking for cold water: the river is still a fine place to look, but the light releases from the dam combined with these air temps and hot water from a rain-swollen Casselman caused the river temp at Ohiopyle today to peak at right around 70. So if you have a favorite piece of water on the river in those few miles above town, fish it early in the day if at all over the next few days. Water temps above that are still good for the weekend, and the river further down should cool as the Casselman drops and this heat subsides by early next week.

I was on the upper Yough in MD above Deep Creek last week. The browns had reached their limit there. They were just floating down the river half dead. Tailed a 24"+ brown right below Swallow Falls that was barely hanging on. Moved it into Mud Creek which was much cooler. Doubt it made it. Going to be a rough year for the non-tailwater fisheries unless we get some significant rain soon.
