After a week of repairing boats, I needed to get out on the river for a scouting run before officially starting the guiding season next Saturday. Considering the crazy weather, the fishing was actually pretty good, though it was best the first half of the day.

The river is on the drop from the rain early this week and should be in fine shape for the weekend. For those looking to get out, I found lots of mature March Brown nymphs in the riffles and saw a few spinners in the air Saturday evening. The flows from the dam are certainly nice for wading--670 cfs, while the river below Ramcat is going to remain on the large side through the weekend (though it's perfect for floating).

Have fun on the river and if you find it's too big for comfort, you ought to be able to find those same March Browns on select tribs over the weekend.

Have fun out there.
