2-9-07 Lake Erie NW PA ice and fishing report
Due to the bitter cold we have not had many angler staying with us. But this is what is being reported by the bait shops and locals. Ice in most areas is approx. 6 - 7 inches thick. There are bluegills and perch being caught with an occasional steelhead being pulled up thru the ice. We have not had above freezing temps in over a week and it is supposed to stay below freezing for at least another week. It is not as cold as it has been with the highs getting into the high teens. It was windy yesterday but today's not to bad so far. But please check the ice before venturing out. The experts are expecting a better than normal spring run for the steelies, so expect as soon as temps start going the other way to see some nice fish. Lookig forward to a good spring and summer fishing season.
