Where to fish this time of year?

I've fished area streams for trout in the past, during the cooler months, but haven't flyfished (or any type of fishing) for a number of years and was wondering where would be a good place to get reacquainted to the sport during these hot days?

I live in King of Prussia. I'm not against driving within a 50 mile radius.

I would prefer spots that are easy for casting (I haven't casted my fly rod in years) and wading, since I'm just now getting back into this. Ideally I'd love a spot that has easy parking.

Any recommendations for spots this time of year?

The Tulpehocken, near Reading probably fits the bill. The temps are okay now for fishing (<70*), it's within 50miles of KofP, it's easy parking, fishing and wading, and holds plenty of fish.

Here's the PFBC map:

Zoom in on Berks County. The Special Regulation area is below Blue Marsh Dam, also the water below that holds fish too.

Good luck. Post a report.

Thanks! I fished the Tulpehocken many years ago for trout. I will definitely check it out.

One thing I forgot to make clear in my original post - I'm open to any kind of fish - bass, sunfish, etc.

Thanks again!

If that's the case, Marsh Creek Reservoir is close by and the sunnies love flies. Panfishing is a great way to introduce, or in your case, reintroduce yourself to FFing. There's also some nice bass in there.

Here the PFBC map. Zoom in on Chester County and there's a big blue dot on Marsh Creek Reservoir.

Good luck.

Thanks!

I recall taking my kids on a canoe ride around Marsh Creek Reservoir many years ago, and seeing some bait/bobber fisherman on the shore. I take it it's best to grab a boat to fish that water, eh?

You can Fly fish fro, shore or wade in along the shore, but if you have a boat or kayak, so much the better. They do rent boats at the State park launch (there is is second launch at Lyndell)

Good luck and good fishing.
