I have five or six poppers and sliders that after several uses the hook has loosened from the body. I can move the hook from side to side. Is this common and could it be repaired?

It doesn't seem to be brand specific as I have Boogle Bugs and Orvis Sneaky Pete's whose hooks have loosened.

Thanks.

Yeah, I think it is rather common. Poppers/sliders can get pretty beat up after a few fish. I often don't fish any wooden/plastic bodied poppers and I generally fish one surface fly which is my version of the gurgler. They are so cheap to tie, as effective as any other surface fly I've ever used, and honestly more durable as I just realign the tightly lashed foam to the correct location.

I started making my own cork poppers after poppers hit + $6 per popper. I posted about it here.

To answer the repair question: Yes, they can be repaired if you can get a little 5-minute epoxy into whatever gap in the body or play in the hook exists as a result of the loosening.

It won't be a forever fix, more than likely. That's OK. Nothing in this world is permanent...:) But it should work for a good while.

If anyone wants any actual corks from wine bottles to build poppers please PM me. I have a near endless supply.
