I would not read much into the low SMB reproductive success in 2009 other than to say that it was a poor year class resulting from high river flows. Fish disease incidence was very low. Similar very poor year classes were also seen in the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers throughout their lengths in 2009. Flows were high during critical spawning and nursery periods in all of these rivers.

I do agree Mike that the silver lining is that no, or very little disease was found, but the bad news is that yet another poor year for YOY survival. This will make SM fishing in the Susky very poor in the near term (the next 3 or 4 years) since the "hayday" bass are dying off without many fish to replace them. We need a couple of good spawning years in a row.

Mike, given the cool summer with good flows, I would guess the trout outlook would be good going into this season. True?

I have attended a few of the weigh-ins for these tourneyments. Don't just read the home page sift threw the site when you have time. Look at the results for the different weeks sizes of both categories (small & Large). To do so, Cick on Results then at the bottom of that page you can jump threw the different individual dates and see the weight/length Look at the size of there legal fishing territory.

This has created some question too me. All the fish caught that are brougt to the table are then released at that launch.

Now shall i keep going or are the same population questions and theories forming in your mind too ?

IMO they should hold the events at a different launch or site. Not just one particular place EVERY WEEK through out the summer.

I'm not sure what kind of replies i'm gunna get from this so lets see.
