FYI. Attached are some links from the site of a new organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the SM bass fishing in the Susky. Check out the last link with FAQ’s – good info for those interested and concerned about the Susky.

afish,
Thanks. Although calling themselves "north branch" it looks like they're interested in the entire river. I frequent the mainstem where the bass fishery has greater problems. It mentions that there will be another summit on the issue this year with the PFBC. I am, however, disappointed that they don't more aggressively argue for C&R regs even though they are clearly dedicated to encouraging C&R and educating fishermen about how long it takes for a smallie to reach 15-20 inches.
This year I have switched from the Susky to fishing the Potomac as they're the same drive time from my home. The contrast couldn't be greater. The Potomac fishes like the Susky did a decade ago. There was a very strong year class in 2005 and last year's was the strongest ever recorded. Smallies are everywhere in this river. Interestingly, in 2003/04 when we had so much flooding, the Potomac had an average year class while the Susky spawn failed. Maryland, to her credit, is much more willing to implement special regs IMHO than the PFBC and has a large section of the Potomac where only C&R fishing is permitted for smallies.

I just donated 25 bucks :-D

I remember back in the day when they implemented the big bass regulations from the fibre dam and below.....all the old coots were pissing and moaning.......then, 3 years later--the same old coots were bedazzled at the size of the smallies they were catching......
hopefully the Susqy can make a comeback.............I am heading there this weekend for the first time in almost 10 years........I hope to just catch something............but, there are plenty of walleye, carp and cats to catch also........but, you have to love the tug of a smallie!!!

ps....if I had an extra 25 bucks--I'd surely send it to them.....
