Summer fly fishing

I finally had a chance to get out for a few hours after work this afternoon.

I went to a local lake to try my hand at small mouth. Didnt have any luck but I did catch about 2 dozen blue gills on a #14 black ant.

It was a blast catching these little buggers on a 3 weight rod. I actually think they fight harder then some trout.

Bluegill, without a doubt, fight harder than a trout. In fact, everything that belongs to the sunfish order, bass included, fight harder than a trout of comparable size. Sunfish are badasses. And yes, LMB and SMB are not bass at all, but they are sunfish.
