Allen Myth series 10ft 3 wt is the deal of the week for $159 and they are a forum sponsor.

Might want to look at that.

The 10 ft 4 wt is great. I imagine the 3 wt would be too.

Crazy idea, but what about building one?

I am just getting to the point of really getting serious about building one. My first fly pole will be a 7-7'6" 4wt small stream, and or a 10' 8wt Steelehead drifter.

Depending on how crafty/ mechanical you can make most if the tools for cheap, and it seems like a fun challenge.

Just food for thought.

Good luck, DJ

I'm sure I could build one but at this point in time it isn't in the cards. I barely have time to fish

Well then I would say that Allen that's on sale would be great, for what your looking for, those guys are on here and seem pretty good to deal with, heck I'm actually talking to one of them about getting some blanks to build what I want. Though I happened to stumble across a small bunch of random blank tip sections and one fits super nice on a cheapy pole I bought from Walmart. It was a 8'6" 5wt and now will be a 7' 5-6wt, pretty fast action. And another one fit pretty nice on my old broken 9' 8wt scientific anglers, though this frankinstien beast will end up being 10'8"!!!! The mega Steele drifter!!! Though I'm not sure if this will work, if it breaks oh well, if it works... The. The far bank is mine!(from the road lol!)....

Get the Allen. I have a 2wt (7'6") and I freaking love it. It has to be a REALLY big stream for me to not go right for the 2wt.

Looks like the Allen is no longer available. Cabelas had the CZN on sale for around $150 when I was there on Monday. I was interested in trying out the 11' 4wt. I think the 3wt was 9'6".

There's an Allen 10ft 3wt blank for around $30. I know a good rod builder in Qtown and I have a ton of extra cork lying around.
I'm sure he could build you one for about the same price.

they are out of stock. the 6wt version is in stock.

for what its worth, walk before you can run. rather than investing time, effort, and money into a niche method and a compromised fishing rod you would do well to learn how to use what you have.

when you realize there's a hole you need to fill, then you fill it, but for now you're looking for a magic bullet.
