WTB 8wt Reel (maybe with line?) <$100

I recently lost my 8wt reel. Total bummer. I think I left it on the roof of my jeep when another angler was talking my ear off at the parking lot. Also lost a fighting butt.

Anyway, I plan to buy one of the Allen Alpha series with line, however, since a few guys have listed awesome reels at great prices here I wanted to see if I could do used first, that way we help each other out. So, anyone got anything with decent drag for $100 or less? Used Konic would be great, since I may want to use it in the salt.
Thanks!

I just bought an Allen for my 8wt. You can definitely get a reel and line for under, or right around, $100. I haven't fished it yet, but it feels solid, looks great, and is butter smooth.

I'm going to be fishing it Sunday, I'll let you know how it all holds up.

I know I can get everything I need from Allen, but I wanted to check if other members have gear to get rid of first.

I have a nearly brand new Cabelas SR2. It is a solid reel. I have another one that I've used for steelhead for about 6 years with no problems. This reel actually has one of the smoothest, most solid drags of any big game reel that I've used. I'd take $80 + shipping if needed. I think they retailed for 179.

FWIW, the Cabela's XSS is currently on sale for $110, looks like they only have the #3 on their website right now.

I've got a smaller one (I think the 2?), its a seriously big hunk of reel, but I'm pretty sure it'll go the distance if needed. You can really torque it down, I've taken mine on numerous trips to the shore, and it hasn't gotten creamed from the salt or sand, yet. Only thing I don't like is a tendency to spin slowly and retrieve line on the ball bearings.

I could really care less about selling my reel, but I will tell you (IMO) the XSS are junk. I know multiple people that tried them, including me, and it might be the worst reel I've ever used.

I'll show you my Cabela's LSR if you'd like to witness junk. :)

Thanks TDB,
I'm sure it's a great reel, but I'm hesitant to buy second hand cabelas stuff. It seems so hit or miss. Still holding out for the Konic 3.5 someone's got stashed away...

I think I'm going to go with Allen Fly Fishing. Although nervous about trying a new company, I've heard some good things.

No sweat brother, I'll keep the SR anyway, it is like a tank - will be good for my son in a few years to try to destroy..:)

I've got a SR 2 that I use and absolutly love it. It's an 8wt and I use it for steel. Never had any problems and probably will never part with it. It's a sweet reel.
