I look at my spool of lead wire today as I finished putting the last wrap on my wooley bugger and what do I see? One more flies worth. So, I was wondering if anyone had any lead wire, lead free wire, or lead tape/other lead substance that they would be willing to make a deal with me? Please PM me, post here, or email me at flytyergf@gmail.com
Have a good day,

Gaeron

Lead is at a all time high price now. Nearing $1.40 a pound! I'm in a similar boat I need to get some more too.

Except it has a rosin core, making it even more toxic.

I have a few spools of Buss Fuse Wire. That is solid wire. See if you can find that at an electrical supply store.

Or try this...

I've been trying to find some a local golf shops but they don't have it in bulk like this. Just trying to get out of the shipping, but I'll probably just buy it here soon. I've seen several professional tyers use it and it looks a lot easier to shape your flies without the bulk of the wire.

If you're referring to the Gander Mountain near Scranton it's down to 1 spool of .025.

Gander seems to be selling out their fly stuff, especially tying items.

If you're gonna buy fly stuff in the Scranton you might as well go to A&G in Dickson City.

gfen, I think the Rosin core is just like tree rosin and bow rosin. Don't know how toxic rosin really is considering it is used in some pharmaceuticals.

Pcray, we're talking metallurgy and manufacturing... This is your area of expertise.

Rosin/flux core solder: good or bad?
