Looking to swap, sell, or a swap-sell, swap-buy combo, depending on how well the swap items match up in value. Make me an offer.

Rod tube can be included. If I can find the sock, that too.

If a whole outfit is desired, there is a matching battenkill reel, loaded and ready to go. I have use for the reel and would ideally hold onto it, but if the reel is required to make a deal my ears are open.

My needs/wants:

- A good heavy reel, to hold a 5 wt line and balance my 8 ft boo. Medalists are in the game here.
- outfit or any part of an outfit capable of the occasional trip to the surf.
- backup brookie rods. At least a 4 wt preferred, somewhere under 7.5 feet.
- anything else that piques my interest.

As far as plan of action, if you're local thats fine, but I'd rather give away at the jam than deal with shipping. I'll have it there, feel free to inspect, test cast, or whatever. Just thought I'd throw it out there now in case anyone was looking for a rod like this, you can bring money or items to trade.

Background of the rod:

Was my wife's outfit. She bought it on discount after taking the PSU FF class, it is in good shape. But she hasn't used it much, and it essentially became a backup rod for me and hasn't been used in 4 or 5 years. It's a decent rod but I honestly was never a fan of its action. She gave me the go ahead to dump it, if she wants to fish, I have plenty to outfit her with.

So, that said, I'd even trade it for another rod in the same length/wt class that I may like better.

I have a Lamson Velocity 3.5 reel I'd be willing to swap if you have any intrest. The reel is in excellent condition, but is one generation older than the current model.

Link to a listing consistent with my reel:

2 piece. I believe mid-flex but I'll double check tonight.

Alby, I'm interested, thinkin that would make a nice reel for the salt? Let me think about what I'd buy to pair it to, and I'll get back to ya.

I'll bring the reel to the jam and give your rod a wiggle while I'm there. We can discuss it over a beer.

Ok, I must apologize, my memory was a little off (I should really look at my rods before offering them for sale or trade, lol).

Rod is an Orvis Trident TLS, not a Power Matrix
And its 8 1/2 feet, not 9.
It is a 5 wt.
It is 2 pc
It is a mid-flex 6.5
weighs 2 3/4 ounces
a few minor scuffs but overall in very good condition, it has seen very little use. Rod case included but I cannot find the sock.

Reel (if it turns out as part of a deal):

Orvis Battenkill Disc 5/6. Near perfect condition.
Loaded with backing, yellow orvis wonderline (5 wt Trout DT), and one of my hand tied leaders from I have no idea when.

Can supply pictures if requested.

Thanks, but I don't think I want the shorter rod. I'll still bring the reel for you to look at.

ok, sorry about the mixup. It's been collecting dust for years and I guess I forgot exactly what it was.

I had that exact rod and sold it to fritz. It's a fine rod, but it just didn't fit. Of course, Dave R cast a whole line with it...

Have know idea if this might pique youre interest but here goes: I have a 9'6" Gary loomis imx 7wt w/fighting butt that is practically brand new. I used it once in erie and my buddy used it a handful of times locally but that's it. I got it last year and then got a sage 99. I hope you consider it as I'm actually doing this for a friend who recently lost his redington 8'6" 5wt and cannot get it fixed as the warranty is out. He cannot afford to buy a replacement as he just started college and has a little one. So I'm tryin to trade this rod to find him something to get him by. Thanks for considering!

Strongly considering. Not exactly what I was looking for, don't think the 7 wt is quite surf capable, and I already have a Sage 7 wt for steelies. Then again, I'd probably like it better than the Orvis; I never met a Loomis rod I didn't like. Will get back to you shortly.

By the way, this Orvis rod I'm dealing was used by Dave Rothrock for his casting demo at the jam, and man did he make that thing sing! Made me briefly consider keeping her, it's not a bad rod. But then I cast the GL3 and reconfirmed my tastes.
