2 books I would highly recommend are "Zane Gray on Fishing" and "Full Creel" by Nick Lyons. Both books are compilations of pieces from their myriad novels, lending wide variety to the books.

These are not instructional books. They have clearly been crafted by these two fine authors to transport the reader to the time and place of the story, as well as making one feel a part of the adventure.

After reading these books, I believe, one will be compelled to read other by the authors. Nick Lyons is an excellent writer and Zane Gray is among the pantheon of American writers including Hemmingway and Steinbeck.
