Let me recommended to you for a winter read "The Habit of Rivers"
It is beautifully written. This is not really a how to book.

Try Jerusalem Creek a hard read but a good book.

I've read both "Habit of Rivers" and "Jerusalem Creek." I agree that they are not really enjoyable reads, too much philosophy, too little fishing for my taste. If I hadn't spent the money on them already, I wouldn't buy them.
