I found this on Wikipedia and I searched the forum to make sure it was not posted before.
Bibliography of fly fishing (fly tying, stories, fiction)
Some of the older books listed such as G.W. Soltau's Trout Flies of Devon and Cornwall published in 1847 are available on line as a PDF. Just click the link on the Wiki page.
Also, there is Kelson's The Salmon Fly: How to Dress It and How to Use It, published in 1895 and available free online in PDF.
In one sense I think some of the older listings are funny but I really do like this stuff so I thought I'd post it.
