zen moment

I'm not a good fisher, but I'm getting better. I can manage 2 or 3 trout in a couple hours at Codorus, always on nymphs. I saw some sulphers in the air last saturday evening but didn't want to give up on my nymphs. I saw some fish breaking the surface so I decided to try a dry. By the time I got a sulpher tied on and started casting I could not see my fly on the water, because of the darkness. Couldn't even see my line anymore. But I made a few casts and I heard a splash and I knew. I lifted my rod and I had a fish. Small brown, but my first on a dry this year. Anyone ever have moments like that?

On the same creek, I cast to rising trout while Maurice stood 8 feet higher on the bank and told me when to lift. I think I took a couple that way, probably after a drubbing all afternoon.

I was fishing a local creek this past Sunday. I've just started fly fishing this season. I ended up catching two nice browns, and a rainbow. I was very grateful to catch one brown on a dry! But, I caught three. I was just so so thrilled. I was all a lone on the creek. When I hooked my first fish, and as I was going for the grab on the fish. I was just saying "YES!" over, and over! I was just thinking in my head if anyone were to be strolling past for some odd reason. They would think I am insane! I was absolutely thrilled! Not to mention I've just started to wade. I was standing off the side of a deep hole facing downstream for a while just scouting the area up ahead. The next thing I knew two trout were swimming up stream a few inches from me. I was standing completely still, just looking and I caught them out of the corner of my eye. To be that close to the two trout. I was just in a complete state of happiness. I couldn't even explain the feeling to ya man. :)

Fish are rising up like birds.
