Wow, nothing keeps the mosquitos from biting like a thick coating of sheep fat and bees wax!

Cool old flies.

That's awesome! Lol. I love the mutton grease mosquito repellent. Are you going to try to fish any of the flies?

Lovely old flies.

I thought the parmachene belle was an old land locked salmon trolling fly from western Maine , not a bass fly ????

parmachene belle is a wet fly also along with other adaptations, just like the royal coachman...jeremymcon, no to valuable to fish, I will make copies and try. geebee, most of the old bass patterns were of trout origins. They were tied a lot larger though. There are some really nice patterns out there from the 30's- 50's for bass...

The large feather makes it weed less. I'll know more after I make a few and try, I do think the feather flips the fly over and the hook point rides up.. It's a balance thing...

The others are not poppers per say but are made to swim at the surface. great way to fish at night. just toss out across and let the fly "V" wake across the stream...Have a few flies we use on pine that way...
