I worked in New Castle, DE today and saw an adult cicada on the roof at the job site and saw another adult here in Quakertown when I got home. May have to fish the patterns this weekend. Anybody else seeing adult cicadas anywhere?

From what I saw during the 2008 emergence, the fishing is not good early on in the cicada emergence. Because they really aren't getting into the water much yet.

Later on they start flying more and getting into the water more, and the fish really get keyed in on them.

So, don't burn yourself out cicada chasing early on, then quit from discouragement just about the time things start getting really good.

Before we go any farther and, since I have trouble tying a Walt's Worm, do any of you guys know where I can purchase a decent Cicada pattern?

I did a lot of searching online for a cicada pattern last year and couldn't find one I liked. I'd suggest checking out the fly tying forum for a picture someone posted that you like and just ask them to tie you a bunch.

SBecker pointed me to this fly and this what I've been tying up (en masse). It's an easy tie and judging by the pics of the actual bug itself, a pretty reasonable facsimile.
