I asked in tips and tricks and got one reply so I'll try here. I haven't done much on zebra midges and wonder how you fish them? Under a caddis or with a nymph?

I usually put it on my dropper of my two nymph rig or drop it off the back of a larger dry fly and fish it in the film.

Another method to fish the mighty zebra is under a foam stick on indi. When fish are sipping midges, very subtle takes that is, I put one 18-24" down off an indi or dry. Works very good.

I do a griffith gnat dry and then drop the zebra off the back of it.

The oldest midge fishing suggestion is to fish where the trout are. If they are on the bottom, fish them with a heavier nymph on the bottom (most common way for me). If you see mid level flashes fish them in the middle - usually dry dropper for me. If the fish are in the surface, grease em up and fish them in the film. This is where I normally cut off the Zebra midge and put on an Al's Rat.
