As for the rest of what you wrote, please keep in mind what albatross wrote: "We drove to an undisclosed location on another stream where Dan put on a clinic in catching big trout on dry flies." Albatross sure seemed to be impressed.

My point is that these trout were likely a bunch of pellet-fed pet trout that probably would have taken strike indicators if they were the same color as dog food. Even a novice could probably have caught these trout. I would have been more impressed if they had been catching 6" native brookies on a tight mountain stream. That would have taken more skill, in my opinion.

By the way, I enjoyed their story, too. The comments were an eye-opener, too. I foresee lots of business for people like Donny Beaver.

FTA,for what it's worthI've fished with Dan and can tell you that he's probably one of the best fishermen I've seen on a creek in probably more years than you have been alive.
As far as "pellet trout"thats a major mistake on your part.I think I know where they fished,as Dan took me there or at least a public stream that held a trout at least that size. If you assume that this in it's original presentation was "bragging" your quite far from the intent which was two guys sharing a great trip.I know Albie well enough to say he also has no need to brag.
If your intent was to PO folks you suceeded,at least in my case.
If you think taking trout that size on dry flies requires no "skill" you indeed show how much you need to learn.
As far as business for private clubs, thats an individuals choice and I see nothing in the original post that encourages or supports such a statement.

I have fished there and believe me those fish aren't that easy to catch, certainly not as easy as those wild trout that will take a bare hook. Even an expert like me, I could only catch two.;)

I was going to write a response to Frank, but I don't feel he deserves one. I'll just stand on my reputation.

It's funny how someone who probably (according to his records) would qualify for a world record, but has no witnesses to attest to it, makes all of us on this board so upset so quickly.

lol @ this from that "cool brag" story bruno linked:

"I stayed overnight under a woolly-adelgid-infected hemlock beside a musical brook, but the fishing the next day was downright lousy on four different streams. The sun was blazing and it was about 85-degrees, so I left in the early afternoon after catching just 57 trout despite great water levels. Overall though, it was a very satisfying adventure."

lousy day and only 57 trout. haha. whatever dude.

I dont think what Frank posted was that far out of line. Although I didnt spell Beavers name right, I expressed somewhat parallel thoughts when I first posted about the place back in 2007:
http://www.paflyfish.com/forums/Open- ... rum/Beivers-good-cousin/2,1354,10160.html#forumpost10160

I cant help but wonder why this particular post would draw attention from him considering how infrequently he posts, but I dont seem to care either.
I'm not a Frank Nale fan. Hes not a flyfisherman. But I'm not a hater either. I feel quite sure he would shake his fist in the air at some kind of clean water rally as hard as the rest of us would. No hard feelings here Frank.

And to some of you other nuts, git yer lips of me arse. I'm startin to like it. Thanks though. Really. More than one post has been made on this board just because I know alot of you like to read them.

I'm not one of the circus freaks you keep around you just to do your bidding and amuse you....

...but i fixed this liink coz I've decided this thread should praise Squaretail to the bejesus coz he likes when guys toss his salad?
Link fixited.

But I didn't do it for you, jdaddy, and certainly not coz you told me to.

FWIW, I've met Squaretail, and I'm not impressed by his fishing. Not in the least. Why would I be? Its just fishing. I am impressed by his easy going demeanor and attitude about life. Frank Nale, on the other hand, stuns me with arrogance. Dude, its just fishin', when you're dead no one's gonna care about that log book you've dumped endless amounts of potentially useful time into. Meet a woman, buy a dog, do something fun for eff's sake.
