Anyone ever have a replica mount made for one of their wild fish catches? Considering having one made if I get a decent wild brown with good coloration and size.
Recommended taxidermist? Pics to post?

Almost all of the fish mounts in my life have looked fake and having caught enough wild fish in my life, I can't stand looking at the wrong spot color on a mounted brown or brookie. And I will probably never get a replica mount anyway. But, I stumbled on a number of Gary Bruch's jobs over the past few weeks, and if I ever did get a replica mount, his are the most lifelike I've seen.

I use Mount This Fish. I've bee working with him for years. Troy has a broad selection of fish mounts and will paint them just like your picture. His replicas always look fantastic.

I wish my friend still was doing it. He used to teach others the trade. I can give you some advise for your end. Picture picture and pictures. Make you just don't have the "grip" shots to give them. Have head, body, tail and fins shots so the can get the paint right. The more pictures the better.

best guy I ever saw is in pine city new York. he hand paints then air brushes then clear coats gives the mounts a depth in the finnish. almost 3d.. he closed his fly shop just to do the mounts, i'll have to find his info again and post it.

I agree with the above post about angling artisans. He does a fantastic job and is able to mimic a picture to a point that is unbelievable.
I have gotten mounts done at several other places before I found him and they are not even close to his work. He does replicas but will also do skin mounts(with cast heads of your fishes head) if you desire. I am old school and still like getting a skin mount, so I appreciate that he also does them. I just got back 3 browns from him, a 32" male from NY and two males from the central PA area, a 29" and a 30". I know most on this board are from this area, if you want to check out the paint jobs on these fish go to his website, then coldwater galley, they are brown trout pic numbers 134, 137, and 138. Of course 134 and 138 are the PA fish.
