Today I got out to my local creek...Clear Shade...and I was surprised by a fallen tree in one of my goto holes. Knowing that there are always fish in this hole...I knew the tree would be where theyd be hiding. So I casted underneath...first cast nothing, until I was stripping in to recast and I saw a BIG flash. So I continued to cast underneath again and BAM..Fish On!!! After a good fight I landed this....Resized Image A nice fat brookie holdover

Nice fish regardless of the answer. And I don't want to sound like a @$$, cause it is a nice fish and a nice accomplishment, congrats.

But I gotta ask. Holdover from when? Didn't think they stocked it in the fall. I'd suggest it was stocked this spring.

Nice fish! I had the same thing happen (the tree). I was out a few weeks ago on a steelhead stream I frequent, I also fish this stretch of stream for small mouth all summer and one of the best pools was perfectly bisected by a HUGE downed tree that really wrekcked the pool. I used to swing through this long pool for steelhead, now that's shot. The spot where the tree fell is right over a group of large rocks that always held some good bass. Oh well, hopefully it will get pushed to the bank durring the next blow out so it no longer crosses the river. Here's for hoping, right?
