Dear Board,

Just an FYI, the cicadas are out in Fishing Creek Valley along Rte 443 in Dauphin County.

My yard looks like it was professionally aerated it has so many holes in it.

I'm guessing they are also out one and two hills to the north.

Regards,

Tim Murphy

Excellent.
You heard it from Tim first.

Will probably be a few days before fish key on 'em. Gotta check my calender and plan a trip to the east.

Next week a mini "heat wave" is on the way. They should really start to make their way from the ground then. Give it a few weeks for the feeshin' to heat up!

Bring 'em on!!! Tim's OP got me pumped up. I went to the vise and cranked out another half dozen last night .... just because.

You bet, Jack. I have really been focusing on getting that overall length between 1 and 1 1/4" (like FI had said) and cutting the foam strips 1/2" wide. I also used a product I got at Cabelas called supreme hair in tan too add to the Krystal flash wing. It is like a kinky synthetic hair material. I kind of like the look.

The map that Afish posted above is better than what I have previously seen. It suggest some spotty cicadas in western PA (if I'm understanding it correctly) but very heavy emergences in northern NJ and northern VA. I may have to check out some of my usual haunts in MD.

Yet to see one in my part of Lancaster County. If I tie any cicadas up it will only be at the last minute.

Very keen to hear of someone seeing the fish keying on cicadas.

Time to plan some streams to target!

I would think they're long overdue to have emerged in SEPA by now. I can't imagine that surface soil temps aren't long past 64 degrees.

It's too early to call the cicadas a bust yet.......but things aren't looking good for the PA cicada hatch. Cicada flies might be selling for cheap soon.
