Been raining off and on all day and its pretty steady right now. If it keeps up through the night and tomorrow it should bring the water level up. Everyone do your rain dance need to get the season kicked off. Seems to be a lot of fish staged at the mouths so some good rain we should get a good push of fish.

The lake shore fishing is starting to pick up..... a good two weeks late. This afternoon, four hours of constant walking, stalking, casting and stripping got me 6 average sized fish. I got my fix.
There are pods of fish cruising up and down the shore line on a few of the bigger tribs in Pa and NY. Not huge numbers, but decent.
I do hate to say this but, it's still going to take inches of rain to get these creeks up to a consistent normal volume.
In the mean time, a good pair of polarized glasses, a few clousers and an offshore breeze can make for an interesting day.

It depends on how far out the fish are;)
Today I barely got my feet wet and threw clousers from 30 to 60 feet on my 7wt using a floating line and 6ft leader. I spent quite a bit of time on my knees casting to fish cruising in 1 to 3 ft of water fishing 100-200 yards east of the mouth of Chautauqua Cr.
If there are not many people waded in and you can keep a low profile, the fish can sometimes move in just feet from the shoreline.
If they're near a drop off, I will go to poly leaders.
I also carry my 9wt with shooting head and running line and wade in if the fish are out a bit. I rarely use this.

Fixed.

It's coming real soon though. I can feel it.
