Ok I have tied some patterns for the fall trip and of course I’m going to bring my old go to patterns! If you were fishing Penns Creek in the fall “October” and you could take 2 Soft Hackles, 2 Zebra midges “nymphs”, 2 Woolley Buggers, and 2 nymphs what colors would you take and what size hook! I’m pretty sure I’m on the right track with my patterns, but I wanted to get some reel good feedback from the folks that call Central PA their home! Thanks guys, and see you soon! Here is some fish porn!

...bump!

No offense, but I don't understand your question. You want us to tell you what size hook and what color to tie a "nymph"? It would help to know what nymph you are tying.
Need to narrow that down a bit. Tie them the color and size of the naturals you are imitating. I am sure plenty of folks will chime in once this is narrowed down a bit.

Woops none taken! What color combination of soft hackles would you want to have? What size hook would you like these tyed on? Same questions for nymphs! that all sorry to be so cryptic!..lol...

Those are all impressionistic flies you mentioned so the standard stuff should work. 14/16 olive and tan soft hackles. Size 6 brown and olive buggers. 14/16 PT and HE nymphs. Black and red midges.

Red & Black with gold or silver rib for Midges?

My best guess is that you'd want a baetis pattern and a Slate Drake pattern, but it depends on whether it's early Oct. or late. the SD's will be gone by the end of the month. Fall caddis is a good bet too.
Is that a laker?

Chaz thanks yes ans that is a Laker that took a fly a streamer at that!

I will take some photos of the patterns that I'm brining it will be nice to see the feed back!

Was the laker caught in PA?

No Sir! NY

I remember seeing a nice laker at 18 mile last nov caught on a fly.

18 mile Hamburg or 18 mile Burt?

tom...i use the basics on penns that time on year and it always produces...just small midges price nymphs and i start to use streamers to then....my brother inlaw ties a fly that is kinda a scud body in a size 18 and 20 fishes it as a dropper fly and tears them up....its not a scud but its got the body of one

Thanks PA!
