It's been a pleasure to learn off of Greg Hoover, what a wealth of knowledge. I'm the good looking guy in camo in the lower left corner.

I wouldn't mind fishing with the girl sitting next to you! As for the class, glad it was so beneficial! If I go to PSU you best believe I will be in that class! haha

I assume current semester? My son was in the class a year ago. Only negative is he now thinks he can critique my ties. Have fun.

Good to see there is so much interest. That looks like a real good group. That brings back memories of when I took the course way back in the spring semester of '86. Our class wasn't nearly that large. Joe Humphreys was the instructor and nearing the end of his career teaching for PSU. I'll never forget the chance to fish side by side with Joe on Spring Creek. It seemed to me like he could literally catch every trout in the creek. Anyway, the course is a great opportunity for you Brian. Great to see you taking advantage of it. Good luck in school.

Brian, I see the guy in the camo but where are you.? What a cool class to take. Glad your getting so much out of it. Greg is a great guy and really knows his bugs, I've had many long conversations with him on that subject. John, you're old. I'm no one to talk hit 50 this month.

I always wanted to take that class at PSU but never fit it into my schedule. One of my only regrets from my time there.

Fast forward two decades and I took Joe Humphrey and Ed Shenk's class at the Allenberry resort.

It was like attending one of those fantasy sports camps. It was fun just talking flyfishing with them.

However, I bet you and your class mates are going to benefit more from Gregs instruction because you now have a solid foundation that takes most of us years to get down.

That's awesome. I can relate. 35 years ago, I took the same class taught by Joe Humphrey. I think our class had a total of 8 kids. The best class I EVER took, anywhere. Joe was quite a character and a great teacher. We called him "Give-a-Show Joe." But I tell you what, to this day I remember his tips.

"If you ain't snagging the bottom, you're doing something wrong."
"Tie your streamers with a loop knot for better action."
"The power punch is nothing more than a quick wrist movement."
"Keep that 90 degree angle between the line and rod tip at all times."

I could go on and on....

Yeah, my wife took the class, woulda been 2005 maybe. Very cool class. I don't think Greg Hoover taught it then, but he is indeed a wealth of knowledge, especially regarding bugs.

Same here. I still managed to get a good bit of stream time with Joe Humphys and still regard him as my nymph fishing mentor. I still use the "tuck cast" and gather the line in my hand the way he taught me.

Just a great time - glad to see the course is thriving.

Im curious what do you cover in the class and how is it graded? How much of the class is actual fishing vs classroom?

I too regret that I could never fit the FF class into my schedule at PSU, but I took Joe Humphreys' plug casting class and his ice skating class in 1983. He's a great skater btw.
