There was a fellow fishing near us that was using wooley buggers who got hung up and after pulling to the point i thought something had to give , the fly flew straight back and embedded in his eye. After his friends rushed him to the hospital , he must have been ok 'cause he was back fishing , but he did have an eye patch...OUCH!!!

After Bruno's avitar from the past of a fly in the eye, I wear sunglasses every time I pull a snag out just because of fear of thiss story. I actually hit myself right in the nose piece between the lenses with a split shot one time.

I always have that in the back of my head when pulling a snag. I had a corneal abrasion one time and was off work for like two days, it sucked. I Don't know how that guy was back out fish after having a hook in his eye.

OUCH!
Please be reminded that sun glasses are not a guarentee that you will not have this misfortune. It may or may not less-in the odds because of the size of the eye compared to the rest of the body that can come in contact with a fish hook.

This is why you always pull a snagged line off to one side and low......

Mirror lure in the knuckle on my index finger, gaff in the forearm, and a treble hook, one barb in the lip. Proves I'm a tad slow. lolGG

sunglasses would work but i don't use them all you have to do really is turn your back to the snag and if it breaks like that it hits you in the back.......no harm done especially if you wear a vest.
