Cumberland Valley, late summer. Or is it early fall now? Leaves flutter down quietly. Not like the walnuts. Bang! Still hot, but autumn is coming. The birds know. The trees know. The fish know. Greeted by a hazy sunrise and a snack of ripe paw paws. Wild trout and a season of change.

Hey klingy, nice photos! I honestly have never heard of paw paws but now I'll be looking. Yes fall is about here and I couldn't be more excited for the fall hikes and fishing. Truly beautiful time in our state

That one trout is gorgeous and paw-paws are delicious. Now if they'd cut these files around me so the doves start using them more..

Beautiful pictures and story, thanks for sharing!

Excellent!

Drakeking,
Get out now if you want to find them! They are peak to past peak in the patches that I frequent and the random trees I came across yesterday. A brief season to enjoy once a year and anticipate the rest of the year. Each patch varies in taste, sometimes substantially. I’ve had them range from almost inedible to very mango-like to almost like eating caramel.
