Jake, I would wait for the fire ring to get stuated. You don't want to be driving around in that condition.

Oh, I thought it was some kind of new slang you youngster's use. "Hey, get off of my lawn!"

Flynhunt (Todd) and I (Will) will be there sometime mid morning Friday and staying till Sunday. Looking forward to it. We will be tenting. Wondering how far people tent from the pavilion?

It's a short jaunt to the pavilion from the tenting area, uh, unless you have a large cooler, then it's a tiresome hike The walk back during the wee hours is much longer

You could drive over, drop off your cooler and then walk over. Cooler should be nice and light for the trip home.

I had a cooler on wheels. My cooler was infamous on Shelley Island all but ten years ago. Long story

Basically, I bought it because the teenagers on the island would all come out at night from the many cottages and trailers, group up and plunder everyones unattended coolers taking several beers each time and running off into the cornfield or woods to drink them.

We called them the leprechauns. Cause they were always tryin' to steal me stash.

So I bought the cooler and kept it close by after dark. I would cart it around the island and sit on it. Anyone wanting a beer would have to ask. I went from buying two cases of beer to only needing one case. Any cooler left outside at night was susceptable to beer theft.

One weekend, I had woken up after only drinking 7-8 beers and only 2 beers out of 48 total had been spared. Everyone had their own coolers full of their prefered beer at Sunset Lodge so I knew the leprechauns had hit hard that particular evening.

And you BETTER have a flash light. It is as dark as pitch in those woods at night.

I am usually too drunk to see anyway...curb feelers might be more effective.

It is recommended to partner up for walking through the CG at night because of the roaming black bears attracted by the smell of beer and roasting marshmallows.

I saw a big bear near the CG last year a few days before the Jam. When I showed up at the jam, the guys I had a cabin with were still out fishing. Like an ass, I locked my keys in my car. It sucks to sit around in the pitch dark for a few hours when you know Mr. Bear is milling around.

Unless something comes up I am going to try and make the trip. Will most likely arrive Thur evening. I have a lot to learn since I have only been fly fishing for a couple years. Hopefully I'll be able to tag along with some of you knowledgeable fisherman for a few hours.
