I get just as big of a kick out of how anal some people can get about people being anal about the correct use of the word.

It works both ways.

I was born in America, but am 100% German decent. I'm thinking there is a percentage of the population that would object to me calling myself native American so I don't use the term just to piss people off.

I believe the correct terminology would be "Wild American"
