This site is great!
First: because it's local!! You guys fish the same waters that I do.
Second: You're Flyguys!! We are in a very small minority.
I hope to meet some of you this year......... 09' will be an awful lot of fishing for this guy! I have a feeling that 09' will be a banner year for flyfishing!

and a Happy New Year
let's hope it's a good one
without any fear"

To the admins of the sight, thank you, this is how I get my fix especially in the winter. To the others, thanks for the insights and all the trout banter. If you love fly fishing, no explaination is necessary as to why any one comes here.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays, I know santa will bring me mucho wild trout this year......... JC

Twas The Night Before Fishing
By: Mat Rupp

Twas the night before fishing, and all through the house,
The Fly Fishers were tying- the pattern a mouse,

The waders were hung by the chimney with care,

For it would be one less thing for the men to prepare,

They anglers drank whiskey, then retired to bed,

While dreams of giant steelhead danced in their head,

I began to remove my green Leland Cap,

And crawl into bed for my frigid nights nap,

When outside the Lodge there arose such a clatter,

I turned on the lights to see what was the matter,

Away to the window, I flew like a flash,

Looked out towards the river to find the source of the crash,

The moon over top of the wide water’s flow,

Shown like daylight on the river below,

When what to my wandering eyes I saw float,

But the Leland team in a fleet of drift boats,

Leading the team- and adventurous boss,

I knew in a moment- It had to be Josh,

Up like the locusts- the rising fish came,

And at that same moment Josh shouted out names,

Now Keith, Now George, Now Eddie and MJ,

Now Alex, Now Scott, Now Ariel and Shunji,

And with these next words created a squall,

Now cast away! Cast away! Cast away all!

And Richard and Evan and Jeff and Dean,

All Cast towards the steelhead which in moonlight gleam,

And Lee and Mat and Joe and Mike,

All cast their rods out into the night,

Ian was their too- with his Winston spey rod,

He swung it around and appeased the spey god,

And then in the twinkling- I heard the reel zing,

Then off in the distance, it rose, making the reel sing,

I've got one! I've got one! Shouted an exuberant Keith,

As we watched in wonder, the battle beneath,

He fought and fought- as Josh steered the boat,

“Twas a record steelhead” Keith would later gloat,

I ran out to great them, and share in their cheer,

Told them to come to the lodge and we’d all share a beer,

They politely declined- said “Customers await”

“We need to get back, ‘fore they start castin bait”

They loaded their gear, and started to head out,

Unlike most, didn’t need directions, the knew the route,

Keith rolled down his window, yelled “The fish gave a good fight”

Then the whole Leland team shouted

“Merry Christmas to all, and to ALL a good night”

Happy Holidays,
The Leland Team
