Lately I've found my mind totally overtaken by fly fishing - tying, rods, reels, flies, actual fishing, etc. I basically can't function.

My question is this, what do you guys do when you have such a bad itch to go fishing (that is reocurring), but you know you don't have the time or else a certain lady friend probably wouldn't be so happy?

If you have not fished in awhile and she knows this, yet does not want you to go. You have bigger problems.

The way I look at it, I could be doing worse things than fishing. If you have more important things to do, but go fishing instead, that's when you have a problem.

You could be at a bar or fishing. Which is worse?

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

She needs to understand. that if you fish once in a while. You will be less stressed. Be more productive with you work and family life.
You will be a better person for it.

Thats my opinion and I am sticking to it. Also it's what I tell mine.

Good luck,

GenCon

If you can't get out to fish:
Practice your casting.
Do research on the internet on places to fish.
Read trout fishing books.
Watch youtube videos on fly fishing and fly tying and casting.
Watch DVDs on fly fishing and casting.
Tie flies.
Do maintencae on your gear.
"Window shop" on the internet on fly fising retail sites.

All this should keep you busy and help make you better prepared when you do get a chance to get on the water.

Shouldn't she already be aware of your fondness for fishing? I'd find another lady friend who's more understanding. lol

Find a woman who will go fishing with you occasionally. Once she knows why you go, which you will teach by showing her, she will be more understanding. Highever, you should never let a woman think she isn't the most important thing in your life-- unless she isn't.

I asked one of those Speciality Purfume ladies at the mall if they had any trout scented purfumes. If they did I'd probably never go fishing again.

old Chinese proverb:

Teach a man to fish and lady friend doesn't allow man to fish, teach man to find new woman.
