Found out that Fred passed away yesterday.

Fred was a really nice guy, good fisherman and fly tyer. Not many of you probably knew him, but some of his ties were very popular.

Please say a prayer for him and his family - he will be missed.

Here's a bit of info about him, and some of his more famous ties.

I had the pleasure of knowing Fred, fishing with him and spending numerous occasions volunteering with him on work days with TU. His generosity spirit and sense of humor are unmatched.

He did alot to shape my flyfishing approach and could always be counted on when he committed to something.

He will be missed.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Maurice. I knew you guys were friends.

Fred was always willing to help others, and went to great lengths to do so.

It'd be very fitting to have a section of the PA Flyfishing Museum dedicated to him. IMO, he was truly one of the all time great PA flyfishermen.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Fred on a few occasions. Fred’s enthusiasm for our sport was contagious. The man would often laugh each time he caught a fish. Fred was truly one of the good guys. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

We lost a good one. I have known Fred for a number of years and had the good fortune to fish with him several times. I will tie some IPWs in his honor.

Dear Ed,

I'm sorry to hear that and I'll think of his family and friends in my prayers.

I never actually met Fred but he and I conversed quite a bit via email and PM's. He was always helpful and enthusiastic, and he will be missed.

Regards,

Tim Murphy
