Caught my first fish on dries for the year Saturday on Spring Creek. I was ready and waiting for an olive hatch that never materialized. The fish started rising to midges (pictured below), so I threw my olive with a soft hackle dropper to one of the rise forms. A nice 13 inch brownie (pictured below) sipped the soft hackle out of the film and made my day. I had risers for about 2 hours and managed about 4 fish on top, though none better than the first fish.

I caught a few fish early in the day nymphing with egg patterns or small Pheasant tail nymphs. Late in the afternoon I caught a couple more swinging soft hackles.
