Is anybody interested in splitting a site for the weekend? With the number of guys coming, I would think that maybe there aren't that many available

I'm not sure what the rules are on subletting space at the campground. I do know that Hemlock Acres has two large fields that are available for tent camping. I've not heard of the campground running out of space because of our group. However we pick the weekend to avoid the crowds from the Green Drake and Memorial Day weekend. If you want a site for a camper, you might be out of luck.

Great news, I got a day pass from the warden, I mean wife, to make it to the jam on Saturday. Unfortunately I can not stay for any of the fireside festivities, but I will make it a full day. I am really excited to meet some of the members on this site and to fish some new waters. And famed waters at that. (I know, I don't get out from under my rock much.) See you then.

Get to the coffee circle early (like 9AM) or you may miss a lot of the guys. (Of course you can always hike the stream and look for the PAFF hats)

The attendees of this years jam better pray for no more rain up that way in the next two weeks. My dad and I were at the cabin this weekend and fished penns saturday afternoon. Water was high making wading tricky at best and dangerous alot of times, but the color was a perfect green. Then saturday night was filled with torrential downpours, got near an inch of rain. And there is another storm predicted for this weekend. We did see caddis and crane flies coming off in areas. Spring was in very nice shape on Friday.

When you fish penns please be sure to have a wading stick with you, with the water that high it is very dangerous and not worth risking it.

Rain is a grand tradition of the Jamboree. One year all I did was tye flies. It was still a great weekend. I got to hear a bunch of Jack Steel's stories and I met some really nice people. The trick is to be flexible. There's more to fishing than the fish.

As for rain at the Jamboree:

"Into every life a little rain must fall."

Regarding the possibility of swollen creeks:

"What goes up, must come down."

There are dozens of really good small streams in the area if the major waterways are too high. The campground is a good 400-600 ft. above the elevation of Penns, so it would take a whole lot of rain to flood us out.

Pad - sounds like they have plenty of room there, so I'll go ahead and reserve a site for the weekend then.

I have plenty of firewood, and will bring all that I can.
Really looking forward to it - see you guys there

Looking forward to meeting you dryflyguy. Good idea to bring firewood, we usually go through a good bit when the evenings are dry.

Me and Josh and his brother Adam will be comming up Thursday through Sunday. We will be fishing our way up to Penns (stopping by the little J for an undetermined amt of time). We are bringing lots of beer and warm clothes so who cares about the rain. I am actually stoked at the possibility of hitting some central PA class A mountain streams as opposed to the big lime stone.

See you next week!

Well rain and beer sounds like my kind of fishing trip. I am planning getting up on Saturday. Still trying to sort the tenting situation.

Pad's advice is well put. Penns will always teach you something.

I spoke to the campground today. They have reserved an area for tenters. No res required. I will set up camp on Thursday am.

Also, just picked up a liter of Makers Mark at duty free. Free sips in exchange for some tips on fishing holes on Penns.
