1st one is stocked. The wild fish in the stream you fished are obvious. It's possible that the bow is wild assuming the various spring seeps and spring creeks that feed the stream. It is possible that the fish came from a spring creek in MD just below the border and moved up stream.

I don't beleive the bow came from the trib downstream in the club beginnings.

Anybody wanna help a noob by describing a little how you guys tell a native from a stocked??

Do they even stock browns this size??

Got this one outta the same section. Pretty sure this is a trib to the west branch perky. I fish the area between 29 and 100 and then on the hereford side of 100.

Sincerely apologize if there is some rule about baitfishing pics in here, just wanted to show another brown from the same area.

I know they stock about 2-3 miles downstream from this spot for what that's worth.

PAskiing - I would guess both of your fish to be wild.

Regarding your other questions:

1. Yes, they sometimes stock browns that small. They get stocked as fingerlings in places. And, in the hatcheries, it is possible for fish to jump raceways, and find themselves in an unintended truck. So you can get youngsters in an adult stocking, or rainbows when they're supposed to be stocking browns, etc.

2. There are a million threads on how to tell. Basically, there are a whole bunch of only semi-reliable indicators to look for. If they all point towards stocked, or all towards wild, it's pretty easy. It gets a lot tougher on fish that have some of each.

Delta,

Is that an Atlantic Salmon?

Brown looks holdover, bow looks like some wild bows I catch, but wouldn't bet my life on it. Does not look like a recent stocking though.
