Every time I enter the PAFF site I look at the bottom of the forum page to see who's online. I also notice the number of Anonymous users versus PAFF members. You out number us 2 to 1 or more. Why not join and start adding to the forums? I can't understand that. Most of you, I'm sure have value to add to the discussions. Just read some of the posts about the Spring Jam or the Mini Tying Jam this past weekend. Why wouldn't you want to be a part of that? Let's try to get PAFF members to out number anonymous because believe me, there are some really good and talented people on this board. Happy Holidays to PAFF Members and Anonymous users alike!

It may be users not logged in yet, as well.

I hope one day to be added to that list of talented ones. And I was thinking the same thing the other day

S'quatch, I'm digging your new Avatar dude! I remember watching that as a kid. I never wanted to be a dentist but who really cares!

The anons will always greatly outnumber the contributors. That's how the web works. This is why I shudder when sensitive info is posted.

What was that rule or law of the web you had as your signature jay about this. It pretty much sums it up

Any reason why can't make an area where only registered users can post, read and reply?

OT Jam Forum is like that.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that goes against the Mantra on the site.

We have that in OT. Regarding the other forums, I don't think that's in line with Dkile's philosophy of creating value for the majority of visitors... Since the majority are anons.

Csoult,

On phone so I can't fix the link, but copy and paste it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1%25_rule_(Internet_culture)

Two things, I never knew the OT Forum was only open to members, the things we learn by reading!

Second, I'm not suggesting we limit access, just letting Anon's know that they should consider giving back too. I'm sure they learn a lot (yes, Jayl I am now convinced about sensitive material) how about giving us some of what they got in return. I welcome them and I hope they gain knowledge from their reading and how they should also want to be a part of something pretty cool.

I will frequently view the topics on the forum and if I see something of interest that I want to reply to I'll log in and do so. I suspect I am not the only one that does this.

Guys, I didn't post this so that members felt that had to explain. I was hoping to get a few first posts from Anon's that saw the light. So far its not working out that way though.

i would go all in on the hand that deems at least 30 percent of those viewing without registering are bait slingers (with or without fly rods) looking for specifics, such as places to fish

i know, the spot burning thing is old and pathetic, but I've met people on freestone wild streams that specifically told me they found the stream through an online forum. This has happened more than once, especially on a marginally large tailwater that has wild fish in it. These people were coming upwards of 2-3 hrs away to fish this remote stream. Sadly, more trash than ever was left behind this year. I actually put a bucket at 1 of the 2 places to park. It will, as was in the past, be posted in the very near future... sucks that the landowners have to deal w. petty shit from "fisherman".

IDC about spring creek, letort, etc., those places are widely known throughout the country, but there are fragile streams that are publicly accessible NOW, however, won't be in the future because of increased traffic which peddles to litter and general disrespect of property.

Yep. This explains much of the issue.
