Yesterday I was fishing on the Hammer Creek on the Lancaster/Lebanon County border. Sunny and about 45F, there were some stoneflies hatching in small numbers. They appeared to be Early Black Stoneflies (Taeniopteryx nivalis), but I didn't take one to key it all the way out, although I'm relatively confident in the genus.
Unfortunately the fish just weren't biting on much of anything I tried. I did manage to hook into one large brown trout that knocked the hook off on a rock just as I was about to net him. Next time! Jeff
