I was fishing a brookie stream 2 weeks ago and some must have been nearing end of life because they were dropping in the water but still had some kick. The trout tried to eat them but just couldn’t pull it off.
They're singing here too, especially with the hot weather we've had lately. I'm seeing a good number of dead ones on sidewalks, but this is typical for late August.
The ones I'm seeing are the usual, green over white, annual cicadas, not 17 year bugs.
