Many years ago I was fishing Arnold Creek in Luzern County. It was late June. I saw a very large stonefly get hit by a brookie. I caught that fish and the stonefly was at least an inch and three quarters. Any idea as to its species? Thanks.

Brookies aren't picky. Just fish a stimulator that matches the size of the real thing.

I'm assuming this was a winged adult? If so, it was likely just a large Perlid stonefly. Another possibility would be a Pteranarcys (sic?) stonefly, commonly called a "salmonfly."
