Can inexpensive and quality be used in the same sentence in regards to fly line? If so, what are some that you guys have come across?

Put as $ amount on what you consider inexpensive.

I think that Cortland peach and S.A. Supra lines are great and they don't cost $80. Last time I checked anyway.

If I didn't have so much in Cabelas points to burn, I would consider these:

H & H Hi Floater line DT page

Never used one myself, but the reviews have been quite good. And they come in DT if you prefer that, which I do. They also tend to go on sale periodically.

I don't have experience with LL Bean but I do recall reading a good review on their $20 fly line.

Streamlight II Fly Line

For $39, I'd recommend Orvis Clearwater fly line:

Clearwater Fly Line

Scientific Anglers $27 fly line is a good value:

Air Cel™ Trout 5-6

Some of the Cabela's lines are made by Rio. Good quality and a step down in price from teh big names

sandfly beat me to it. I was going to suggest the Rio Mainstream. You can also find Cortland 444 and 444SL on clearance if you look hard enough. Post #7 states that Rio makes some of Cabelas lines. Not that I'm aware of. Cortland made some and SA made some. If you compare a GPX line profile (head length, taper, grn weight) it's almost exactly the same as the Cabelas Prestige Plus line. Not that I'm a dork that would research these things but wanted to try a GPX line without paying full price (in case I didn't like it).

I really like Hook and Hackle lines. Especially when they go on sale for $25. By far the best bang for your buck. IMHO

Maybe they are making future lines> I was discussing with a Cabela's rep and they stated that Rio was going to make a few of their lines. They could have been mistaken.

JW Ghillies line - made by Cortland (probably a 444) - found a DT4 at the local "Sportsmans Liquidators for $12. I've fished it for the past 2 years. Floats well & just needs a touch up every so often from one of those Cortland patches.

I found a SA Air Cell 5 years ago on a Gander Mountain closeout -WF4F - $15. Still floats, no cracks.

I bought 2 'junk' lines for steelheading at the Cortland outlet store. I called them to see if they could tell me if the line was WF, Bass / Musky taper or whatever. It was marked 7wt floating $9.99. The guy made a few phone calls, talked to line designer that was with Cortland for 15+ years, had me describe the line colors and they were able to figure it was a line they made for Cabelas.

Hope Rio does end up making some lines for them. They might actually re-box mainstream sink tip as prestige plus line.

I used to buy mid ranged fly lines. Then I was in need of a fly line one day. Went to Walmart got a wf 5wt of cortland fly line for 15 or 20 bucks and realized... Its fly line.. It floats and the brand does not catch me more fish. Once you get over 20 or 30 bucks your paying for the logo on the box. seriously, 50 - 99 dollars for a straight piece of plastic! Ill pass!
