I recently received a bamboo rod that was purchased at a garage sale, (they of course asked no questions b/c a rod is a rod right?!)
It’s very nice they thought of me. it's definitely seen some water and would need to be refurbished if I was going to use it. there are no markings on the rod it's self but the bottom of the reel seat I believe says "harnell" inside a fish outline, I was able to find very little online, but I’m now fairly certain of the name. The guides are rusty, the ferrules are unglued, and the tip is bent. Can it be refurbished? And is it worth anything? Or will it be better suited to hanging on the wall? Any leads on who could do said work? I know a lot of Asian bamboo rods were made around that time. Thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe you should read this...

There's not shame in cosmetically refinishing a rod for the wall either.
"is it worth anything?" is a rather vague question in my mind.

Dear trico,

Do you have the ability to take digital pictures and post them? If so go to this site and post pictures and ask questions in the "Appraisal and Identification" section. You need to register to post, but there are a lot of bamboo fans there who can offer help. You rod may be better suited for wall mounting, or it may be a quality rod that somebody fiddled around with and attempted to restore years ago and it may be worth being properly restored.

I don't know enough to give you much help myself.

Tim Murphy :)
