What do you use (if anything) to clean your flyrod? Also, zippers?

2 questions.

1. I usually just wipe it down with a dry rag. If it gets more dirty, I use a damp rag. I suppose I should look at Sage's recommendation, huh.

2. I have a William and Joesph's creel pack. It has been working out good. I have ditched the Down's box and vest, too bulky and hot and hard to access the back part of the vest without taking it off. The one problem I have experienced with creel pack is that sometimes my tippet will get catch in the zipper pull. I was thinking of sealing this off with glue or some chalking. Any recommendations.

Again, thanks in advance for any tips.

A couple of coats of auto wax on the blanks .
Handles[cork] clean with denatured alcohol and seal with three coats of armorall. This really works as it not only keeps grime out of the cork it keeps the cork alive and slightly spongy so you can use a soft hand.
I am sure someone will preach about the glint on rod-nah,just makes it look nice.
I'll pass on second.

I use PLEDGE.....I like the smell of the new orange stuff.....just spray a rag and wipe the rod down............it seems to bring the rod back to life.........looks wise anyway

A little mineral oil wiped in and then off of the cork also seems to work pretty well. If it's bamboo, then Butcher's Bowling Alley wax has worked well for me.

Good Luck,
Rolf

Sage recommends using Pledge / furniture wax to coat your rod. I use Pledge after every couple of trips, and coat the rod with auto wax one or twice a year.

U40 Cork Seal is the best think I found to preserve the cork handle on my rods.
