Not fly fishing. I know. Don't really care to debate that.

Moving on.

I'm thinking of getting a centerpin, but as usual, I'm looking to go on the cheap (within reason).

http://tinyurl.com/6cc4lo Too good to be true? I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Jay- then you will need one of these.

Ha-

This seems to be the most effective way to fish for steelhead.

But that don't make it right. hehe

JayL,

If you got the money and time to learn a new system, do it!

LUKE COME OVER TO THE DARKSIDE.........TOGETHER WE CAN RULE THE GALAXY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Justfish,

You made me laugh. My first reaction to Jay's post was that I should reply "Luke, I'm your Father. Come over to the dark side and join me!", but I talked myself out of it.

Jay,

Have you tried posting on PaCenterPinFish.com? Just kidding.

I don't know a great deal about the technique. I imagine the great strength is you get really long drag-free drifts.

been doing it since '99 - if you have any questions or want to try my set-ups shoot me a PM. I live by valley forge.
as far as the okuma - if you plan to use it around here it'll be more frustrating due to its start-up abilities. Flows are too low in our area creeks and you're fishing more pocket water than slots - requiring proper shotting and immediate start-up to get the right presentations - price is right though so if you don't want to invest too much it'll get you started but may limit you to fish certain places / spots. also, factory rods are not going to work for you around here - i believe you've built at least one rod- so consider building a single hand spey conversation or fly blank conversation and include in the costs of getting started in pinning. I've build a 10 1/2' 5wt that you could use around here and allow you fish for chrome in PA / NY but out there you'll probably want something with a little more butt and length. Out here, i'm using a 10' 3 wt conversation. Plan on getting drennan floats in 5-7 grams and get the right kind of split shots - balckbird is readily available is will work fine.

sheffield is better.

Thanks a ton guys. I talked to my pinning buddy, and he has a connection for a cheap, high quality outfit. I'll let you know what I end up getting.
