I jusr recieved one from Cabelas that is pretty darned sturdy. Best of all, they have a buy one get one free deal going on right now.

For what it's worth...

I'm not sure what the price is, but I've seen some colapsable hiking staffs in the camping section at Walmart. I've already got one that was only 19 bucks for.

I'm sure a ski pole can be modified and used just fine though.

Just to wrap up the subject neither Jack nor Gino needed a wading staff on Abrams....I on the other hand could have used one. I ate it at least 5 times the one day we fished Abrams. Once within feet of Jack. I was greatly impressed that he was ably to supress his laughter as well as he did.

My black and blue marks are healing nicely.
