No you don't. I asked a question and you answered it. I personally like the extended reply. If I didn't ask for it I wouldn't of asked :)

If you know how to break the tip correctly and glue it back together - you could have any Fly Rod size you want.

Get a 7'-6" 4 wt. Brand of your choice.
This was for the op, never fished Pine.
Ps: Looking to rectify that this season.

I have two rods I favor for small streams. The first is a Sage "TXL" 7 foot 4 weight. It works very well with nymphs, streamers and dry flies. It can even cast some weight if need be. IMO a good all around small stream rod. The other I favor is my Loomis "GL3" 6 foot 6 inch 3 weight. It works nearly as well as the Sage. I do not go below 3 weight on small streams. I have a St. Croix 7 foot 6 inch 2 weight "Avid", but it is my specialized Trico flyrod. IMO the 2 weights and below are too specialized to make a good all around rod.

I use a 8'5" 6wt, but many would use a 9'5wt. Longer rods are beneficial here because it's big water.
