I am going to try to get down to the Jersey shore this fall to do some striper fishing.

Wondering what the best starter outfit would be -- length, weight, brand, action, etc. -- for the least amount of money? It's my understanding that the fish during the fall run down there weigh anywhere between 10 and 35 lbs. Although I would prefer to catch fish on the surface, I will most likely stripping clousers or some other weighted fly. Do I need a sinking tip line, or would it be smarter to use those interchangeable sinking tippets?

I will be primarily fishing from the surf and from jetties.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

a 9ft. 9 or 10 wt will work..the most important thing is to get a good reel with a good drag...check out the orvis clearwater 9ft. 9wt. mid flex 8..it can throw a 10 wt. fine..plus they are on sale...I have a brand new redington 9/10 AL with backing for sale...call me at the shop...an intermediate line will be fine for now, unless you plan to fish the jetty...spent the last 30 yeras on the beach fly fishin...
