Backing

Is there a difference between dacron fly line backing and regular dacron fishing line? Fly line dacron is twice the price. Other than a smaller diameter I can't image what the difference would be.

Not sure but if you are looking at teh two and can;t see any difference..the difference is probably marketing...

20 pound cheapest mono,nail knotted works great as backing.

My reel won't hold enough 20 # so I use 12# micron. If that trout can break the 12# he's entitled to keep my $70 fly line, I'll have the memories.
