bought some floss to tie with and was wondering about the 3 strands that are coming out as opposed to one. Hope my question makes sense. If not maybe i'll add a pic.

Use 1, 2, or 3 strands depending on how big of a body and how thick it needs to be.

I think on the bulk of the sz10-14 flies I tie, its 2 strands. Smaller is 1. Maybe not, coz multi-strand floss irritates me, and most of what I have is single, thicker, stuff.

What gfen said I prefer to seperate the strands and use 1 long vs. 2 shorter. I think its easier to work with that way and makes for a cleaner looking fly. To the fisherman.

I almost always use one strand at a time for the reasons already mentioned. If you pull the floss between your thumbnail and a finger it will cause the fibers to separate and splay out a bit when you wrap. This makes for a much smoother looking body IMHO.
